Wander Nearby is a hyper-local mystery day trip in a box. Each edition pairs a specially curated theme with a handful of the best local spots (currently designed for wanderers in the Greater Hartford, CT region). Each box includes everything you need for a memorable family day out exploring a handful of local stops with activities along the way. Sealed envelopes reveal the day one surprise at a time so everyone can experience the mystery together, even the driver. All you need to do is pick a day, gather your crew, and hit the road for some fun!

Between parties, family celebrations, endless gift wrapping, and your already hectic schedule, planning a family day out around the holidays can easily slip to the bottom of the to-do list. Then suddenly it's January and you missed a chance for some holiday cheer and reconnection with those you love.
That's why we've done the work for you! Our 2026 Holiday Edition of Wander Nearby has everything you need for a festive local day trip with your whole crew, from littles to grown-ups. Nothing to plan, just a good old-fashioned fun right in your own backyard.
What's in the Box
A "start here" envelope with some preliminary information and instructions so you know generally what to expect
An at-home activity to get your crew into the festive spirit before you hit the road
Sealed envelopes for each of four curated local stops (including lunch suggestions)
Fun activities to do along the way (think car games, a team challenge, a festive playlist, and more)
Plenty of whimsical touches and hand-crafted paper goodies
Good to Know
Your day trip can be done most any day during the holiday season (late November through late December, though best before Christmas). Some suggested stops are closed on certain days, so we've provided an alternative in case your first pick isn't available. The day builds toward an after-dark finale, so plan to start your adventure late morning and finish in early evening. Other than the lunch stop, suggested activities are free to enter/experience (though one stop accepts donations, and we give you a non-free alternative for the evening stop).
Pre-order by November 10, 2026 for delivery in time for the holiday season!
